A fire-fighting truck is fitted with a pump installation and transports water and foam in special tanks. All equipment required for fire-fighting activities are also transported on-board the vehicle. There is room for 3 to 6 firemen.
Applicability
Extinguishing fires of solids and liquids
Forest fire-fighting trucks
A forest fire-fighting truck is always an 'off-road' type of vehicle (e.g. 4 x 4 ) and is lighter than the regular fire-fighting truck. Indeed, they must be able to drive on difficult surfaces and dirty roads.
Applicability
Extinguishing forest and bush fires
Crash tenders
These vehicles meet the international standards for airports: extinguishing capacity, intervention speed, pump flow rate, etc. are precisely defined and must be met
accurately.
Applicability
Extinguishing fires on airfields
Powder vehicles
These vehicles are fitted with a powder drum that contains up to 2.000 kg extinguishing powder. The propellant used is pressurized nitrogen.
Applicability
Gas fires and nuclear industry
Equipment and material vehicles
Personnel
and equipment vehicles
This type of vehicle is used to transport equipment and manpower to the place of intervention. They are often used as support vehicles for fire-fighting
trucks.
Applicability
Use of personnel and equipment for miscellaneous interventions
Trailers
These vehicles transport extra equipment and materials to the place of intervention, without need for an extra vehicle.
Applicability
Use of personnel and equipment for miscellaneous interventionsFire fighting vehicles
Support trucks
Tank trucks
These vehicles are support vehicles for fire-fighting trucks in order to transport more water or foam to the seat of a fire than a fire-fighting truck could transport on its own
Applicability
Water and foam transport
Pump trucks
A pump truck is used for pumping (at low pressure) of water at a high flow rate
Applicability
Use of powerful pumps, e.g. for floodsFire fighting vehicles
Rapid intervention vehicles
Emergency vehicles
This vehicle has been designed specifically for rapid intervention on locations that are difficult to reach. They also have special rescue equipment on-board.
Applicability
Road accident intervention
Command vehicles
These vehicles mainly contain communication equipment for the coordination of the different intervention units and to ensure adequate communication, also towards the wider
population.
Applicability
Coordination of complex interventions
